Some things.....

Hi, great deal so far. Really like this software. One thing bothers me, though.

I have all my series on a server in a single folder. Under this folder there are three subfolders (actually different hddīs), containing the series, it looks sth like d:\series\series 1\lost\...
Sadly the episodes are not really well organized - if one disk is full I just putīem on the next one. This works well for me, as MP TVSeries doesnīt bother about paths. But TVRename does.... I know I have the option to enter a path for a season. There are 76 Series with 331 Seasons and 5800 episodes on my system, some are separated like season 4 Part 1, season 4 Part 2.... I know I could tidy up - but why should I ?

What I would like to have:
1. An option to ignore paths and just rename files, without checking for path, etc. Just find files and rename them where they are, no copying, moving, whatever.
2. An option to do a rescan of found files if the folder structure changes (happens regularly) - like RMB on series and "Rescan"
3. In the Renaming-Tab I can mark several episodes and.... ? If I want to rename only some episodes itīs not possible (or am I wrong?)

Maybe these options are already there and I havenīt found them....please enlighten me ^^

If not, maybe they arenīt so hard to code.....hopefully - Iīll buy you a beer or two ;-D

Thanks for your great work !

cheers

Hi..

#1 could be done.. I'll have to think about it, but it may not be too hard. Currently, you can rename all your episodes scattered across your folders. You'd add each of the folders and specify its season when editing the show in in the "My Shows"> It'd also pay to turn off the "Missing check" option, so it doesn't complain about all the partly-complete folders. I realise that adding in several hundred folders would be a pain.

#2 is related to another feature I was planning, which is to automatically scan when a folder/file contents change, meaning you don't have to keep hitting the "Check" button.

#3 - when a list of files comes up in missing, renaming, or finding&organising, you can select the ones you don't want done and hit "Del" on your keyboard to remove them from the list.

I'll have a think about how to implement your stuff. If its fairly easy, I'll put it in.

Hi

I have another one:

I have a series which is "german only" TVDB-ID: 81513

If I search that one in thetvdb.com via name, I get no results - if I perform an "All languages" search, itīs found (twice, actually).

TVRename doesnīt find it, even if I enter the series ID - I guess because thereīs no english entry.

Until now that wouldnīt be a problem, BUT TVRename doesnīt care about the missing series name and renames all episodes to " - S1E01 - Episodename.avi"....

And would it be possible to give out errors (or errorcodes) in the "rename" window. I had some files which just couldnīt be renamed. I thought about security issues or "file-in-use"-problems, but these files simply already existed. So, if there was a simple message saying "error - file exists", it would definitely help ;-))

Yeah.. Its to do with the show only having a german entry, and the search call I use only searching in english by default. Shouldn't be too hard to tweak it to behave better.

For now, you can manually override the blank show name by filling in the "Show Name" text field just below where thetvdb search results are shown.

I'll have a look at adding better error reporting, resulting from copy/move/etc. operations. Shouldn't be too hard.

Give the latest version a try.

It'll now find shows that don't have an English entry. In addition to that, you can prioritise languages so that it will use the preferred language(s) for show and episode descriptions, if available ("Language Selection" on the Options menu). Known bug: if the show isn't listed in the top ranked language, it'll probably drop back to English, rather than trying any of the others in the order specified. I'll fix that soon!

The renaming and finding&organising lists now have an "Error" column on the far right, that'll show any errors resulting from failed rename/copy/move operations.

Hi,

the error handling works great as far as I can tell.

I still was unsuccessful with the "german only" series. I get "1 show found" and all the episodes, including synopsis, but no show title....

Theres still a bit of a bug/confusing aspect in the way that the show title is handled. Once you've searched and found the show (while editing), hit the "Copy" button. That'll copy the show name in, and everything should come right from there. One of my bugs to fix next is making the show name work more reliably.

Hm, sorry, no. Pressing the Copy Button just has no effect.

I donīt want you to spend all your time on this. I can add the name manually - but if you want to keep on testing, Iīm here ;-))
