Things I would like to add

Here is a few Christmas list items:

1. "Use as default" button for the add show option.

I had about 15 shows that I had to select same timezone, same directory, uncheck folder per season, uncheck do missing check. Would've been nice to select a "default" option for all added shows.

2. Ignore seasons option is not very easy to use.

First I couldn't find any help files. Second once I figured it out, I had to type each season number out. Could you add a way to ignore a group, ie "0-12", "1-5 7-9", "1-9". Third I couldn't figure out how to ignore specials at first (see number 5).

3. Only check for the current episodes checkbox

I might be the only one that does this, but I only keep the last season on my hard drive and copy the older episodes to a DVD. It would be nice to have an option to only check the current/last season.

4. Ignore episodes listbox

Back to number 3, I sometimes copy episodes to a DVD because the show is not on the air at the moment (southpark is a good example, they show 8 episodes and take like 6 months off). To save space I move this files to a dvd.

5. Ignore specials checkbox

It might be nice to just have a check box for to ignore specials, instead of using "0" for the ignore seasons option.

6. Expand/Collapse buttons on the myshows tab

Seems I have a bunch of shows that are expanded out, and it would nice to use click a "collapse all" button.

7. Dialog box if download fails

I was clicking the "check" button, on the rename tab... and the download box popped up... the progress moved a little, and then the box disappeared. No shows to rename? I tried again... same thing. Then I noticed my wireless was not connected to the internet. It would be nice if a box showed up and said "Hey, couldn't download do you want to go to offline mode. Of course you won't have the updates, but at least you feel like something happens"

8. 2 episodes in 1 problem

Not sure if there is a fix for this, but sometimes people combine 2 episodes into 1 file. For example S05E12E13, or 5x12-13.

Whoa... I had more ideas then I thought. Well, if you have the time or are bored here is something to do... :)

Thanks for such a wonderful application.

Hi.. Thanks for the ideas and feedback :) With a bit of luck I'll get motivated over Christmas and be able to put a lot of this stuff in, as well as a few new exciting features.
1. "Use as default" button for the add show option.
I was thinking doing something in or beside the preferences dialog. From there you'd set up your preferred defaults, so it can pre-fill your show settings with ease, including the location of the show which would be using a template along the lines of "e:\shows\{ShowName}".
2. Ignore seasons option is not very easy to use... First I couldn't find any help files.
5. Ignore specials checkbox

I suck at writing documentation :) What I have written is a bit out of date with respect to adding shows, and could do with an update. Defining ranges of seasons would be easy, and a checkbox for ignoring the specials easy too.
3. Only check for the current episodes checkbox
A checkbox for "latest season only (and ignoring future seasons with airdates missing or in the future)" would be easy to add.
4. Ignore episodes listbox
You can achieve that now by setting up rules for a show's season. Expand the show in My Shows". Click on a season, then hit "Edit". Add a new rule, set the type to "Ignore", and enter the first and last espiode number you want it to not care about.

I've been toying with the idea of being able to select a bunch of episodes in the Rename or Missing tabs, hitting a button "Ignore", and having it automatically do this for you.
Expand/Collapse buttons on the myshows tab
Easy to do
7. Dialog box if download fails
Yeah. My handing of errors while downloading is bad (non-existent).
8. 2 episodes in 1 problem .. For example S05E12E13, or 5x12-13.
Have a look at the "Rules" for a season. (My Shows, expand a show, click on a season, then "Edit").

Add a rule of type "Merge" and put the first and last episode (e.g. 12 and 13, in this example). TVRename will then look for a file with the "5x12" bit, (assuming the 13 is in there too), and rename it to something like "ShowName - 5x12-5x13 - This Episode - That Episode".
