A couple things..

I've been using TVRename for the last 6 months or so and I'm really enjoying it but I have a few ideas/tweaks that could make this better.

First the finding and organizing isn't very intuitive. If it won't work without a missing check, which by the way would be a nice option, then it shouldn't ask at all and it should just run it. In addition, the most annoying thing is that it needs me to go through hundreds of yes/no questions on the first run so that it has blank folders to put episodes into. This not only is confusing but makes no sense since now I have a bunch of empty folders just in case I download an episode for that season at some point. Can you please just auto create these folders when a new episode comes in? I can't imagine I'm the only one who has noticed this behavior. Along with this system now if you've selected ignore always there doesn't seem to be a way to get it back.

Second, could you add something like Natbur's renaming app that brings up a list of parsed tv series from a download folder that don't match any in your library? So I have lots of The Office episodes but your app doesn't find a match since it doesn't exactly match the tv series name/folder. Or maybe even enumerate all files that have a season and episode number and then allow a drop down or a popup to search thetvdb.com or an existing tv series in your library.

Third when I think folder monitor I think something that is changing. Since I'm using your app to organize the root should be selected elsewhere in the initial setup. Then I want to monitor download folders and select what series they are and it will auto move them.

Anyways, sorry if this sounds like a bunch of complaints but it's not. I've told many people about your app and I use it day in day out. I just want to make it better for myself and everyone else. I only comment when I really like an app. Thanks for the great work!

Hi havix.. Thanks for the feedback, some of it is similar to what I've heard from others. At some point I'll have a go at re-doing the interface (again) and end up with something that is easier and more "intuitive". The idea of listing non-matched episodes could be quite useful.

To undo the "ignore always" button, go to the show on the "My Shows" tab, click "Edit", and remove the season number(s) from the list of "Ignore seasons" about half-way down that dialog.

I second the unreconized file list. Just make sure that it follows the file extension rules to avoid noise files.

I third this. It would be nice to have complete control over manually assigning (then appropriately renaming) any file to a particular episode(s) as sometimes files from sources are less than ideally named.

I have lots of The Office episodes but your app doesn't find a match since it doesn't exactly match the tv series name/folder.

The problem with The Office is that there is no such series on TheTVDB - there is a "The Office (UK)" and a "The Office (US)" - once you have added the appropriate one into My Shows you can modify the recognised name using "Custom Show Name" in the series settings & all your episodes will be detected. If you have both series (like me) you will have to sort out what you want to do to keep them separate.

While I can see where this might be helpful in limited cases this doesn't help people who want to the proper name for their series but download episodes with the improper name. All CSI Las Vegas episodes come in as CSI. So now my only option to have these detected is to add this as a custom name and now have these name as CSI.S01E02.Whatever.avi instead of CSI.Las.Vegas.S01E02.Whatever.avi.

I've also been thinking of making it possible, for each show, to enter a list of "Alternate names". That way, you could tell it that "CSI: Las Vegas" is also called "CSI", so it'd then pick it up. Also good for shows that get abbreviated, e.g. "How I Met Your Mother" = "HIMYM".

This would be a great feature. At this time the only way to get tvrename to move these types of files is to rename them yourself and then let it go. Like I mentioned before, natburs tvrenamer app has a really easy interface for this where you can bring up a list of all the series that don't have matches. This might be a good model for how things should be implemented in your app. Thanks!

Oh, please, please, please.

I keep having this issue with episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Some people use "Law & Order: SVU", some just use "SVU", some use the full title... Find and Organize becomes pretty difficult to manage when you run into this, because you have to keep changing the custom name in the show properties.
