Renaming Feature - File to episode matching

Sometimes you can download TV shows, Cartoons or Anime and they don't have any Season or Episode number naming conventions, they'll just have a sequential number and the episode title.

For instance, I came across the Looney Tunes Golden Collection and the file structure was as follows:
Golden Collection\Part 1\001 - Bugs at Bat.avi

there's no way to parse this info for season or episode number because "Part 1" might not mean Season 1 and "001" probably surely isn't the episode number. But the title "Bugs at Bat" could be useful.

This leads me to my suggestion:

1) You manual add a TV series like normal to TVrename
2) Go to a tab called "Bulk File Matching"
3) Browse to a folder that contains episodes (Episodes in the folder MUST be from the SAME show at least)
4) TVrename will list the files found in a column
5) Using a drop down list you pick the show you want to match the files with and TV Rename shows
the episodes in the same window in another column (separated by Season if needed)
6) Using either drag and drop or an UP or DOWN arrow key, you could move the files next to
their matching episode name.
7) Once all files are matched up you click the "Rename" button and it will rename and copy / move files
according to how the TV Series is setup.

This is similar to what MediaMonkey and Tag&Rename does with music files.
They allow you to search Amazon.com or FreeCDDB.com for CD track listings
and you can apply it to folder structures like the following:

Green Day \ unknown album \ 01 - track.mp3

Unknown Artist \ Its You Not Me \ 01 - track.mp3

Interesting idea for matching up files and episodes - I'll keep it in mind.

If you edit the show in My Shows, you can turn on "use sequential number matching". This will then look for the overall episode number, but only for finding missing episodes (i.e. not renaming). It will then want to rename them to "S03E05" style, unless you temporarily change the naming template to use {Number:3} or something similar (Per-show naming templates are on my to-do list.). Then, right-click on the show in my shows and hit "Missing Check". That'll only check for that show, which you can follow with a Find&Organise.

I would like to add my support for a feature that would use a match/similarity in the file name to identify content.
In the case of looney tunes where the structure of the data on tvdb was changed from seasons to years, i can't find an easy way to move over to the new tvdb structure. A (separate) tool/algorithm which matched based on filename could i imagine find the correct match.
or perhaps in the processors there is this option to match on filename already?

those oddly numbered shows it may be best to use a file renamer like Ant renamer to get them where they are in s00e00 format first then run tvrename.

i have seen several other general renamers around get one with undo
and preview like ant has.
