No offense to anyone, but thetvdb has very badly written show descriptions in many, many cases. Is there any way that IMDb or some other source can be used to scrape .nfos instead?

Also, is it just me, or is there no way to get tv rename to download fanart?

The information on TheTVDB is input by the community. If you want it changed you can do it yourself. Sign up and log in to TheTVDB and you can basically change any information you like.

TheTVDB provide a programming interface to allow people to get the information with no issues, while a site like IMDB does not want you to "steal" their information as they want you to pay for it. They regularly change the coding of their web pages to stop people getting information off their website.

OK - what version of TVRename are you using and what specifically do you mean by fanart?
If you mean the big "Background" style picture, then the app does not currently download this, but easily could. What are you using to watch your shows? Windows Media Centre; XBMC; Media Portal; etc?

Right, I realized theTVDB was a wiki style community effort a little while later and started editing some of the the more cringe worthy show descriptions. Unfortunately the site went down a little while later and hasn't come back yet. Not sure what's going on there.

I'm using version 2.2.0a7 with XBMC. Yeah I'm talking about yes the big background style wallpapers that appear when you browse through a TV Show library. If TV Rename downloaded fanart then I'd have no reason at all to use any other media manager, but right now I have to use another program that's slow, cumbersome, and (very) ugly.

I noticed that TV Rename keeps track of upcoming episodes and things like that. Maybe something to consider for when theTVDB goes down (like it has now), is to store that information somewhere and draw on it so users could continue to use the app without having to connect to theTVDB. Maybe even store the .nfos as well?
