Export/Import have/missing list and compare to another

I've converted about 4 of my friends to this program and they all love it.

What would be EXTREMELY handy for us, and hopefully other people is to be able to export a list of files we have and/or are missing. Then you could give the file to someone else running tvrename and ask it to compare your have list to their missing list or vice versa. From there, tvrename could pick out the files that person A needs and person B has which can then easily by dumped onto a HDD to share/sync files.

Technically TV Rename does have an export function for things like files you have and those that are missing. It's just not in the 2.2 builds yet. You can do it with 2.1 though.

Yes, but that doesn't do anyone much good for what we want to do. We would still have to go blind sifting through thousands of have/have nots and then as we identify each of them, go to the folder and copy them to another drive.

I imagine it would be quite doable for the program to look at your haves and look at someone else's have nots and simply match them up.

Getting the export functionality (of what is missing, and what you have) added back into TVRename is fairly high on my priority list. I had to take it out when I did the update to 2.2.0, and haven't rewritten it yet.

Also.. I have an idea in the back of my mind, for doing what you want to do.. One day, when I have a burst of time and motivation, I'll put something together.

The idea is for the program to maintain an (online) list of everything you have, and then you give your ID to your friend(s). They tick what they want in your list, then your end tells you "copy the following XXX files totalling YYY GB to HDD/DVD" (maybe helping with that step, too, spanning across media.)

Then... When that'd done and working, it can be integrated that with TVRename, so TVRename can be told the IDs of your friends, check against their lists, and do a "request" on your behalf.

When I get it done and am ready for some help testing, I'll announce it here. :)

I like that idea very much. I've mentioned it before in another thread, but I think that feature would benefit greatly from integrating mediainfo.dll into TV rename. I get all my stuff in 720 unless it's an older show. Most of my freinds will happily accept 720p content from me, but only download SD content.

So if I get something from them, I'd like to know whether it's SD or HD otherwise I'll just get the HD versions myself. As for my friends, if we have the same shows but mine are in HD and theirs are in SD, they can then replace things that they already have with higher quality rips.

I would put my hand up to help test this, me and a friend both share what we collect and be so much easier to keep track of who needed what shows etc than what we currently do which is a pain in the ass...

do you have an eta on when you think this will be ready for testing?
