Hey guys,

Just wondering, how big roughly IS your TV collection (Just TV Eps, not movies or music or anything.) Please use the above poll to vote and feel free to post any other information about it :)

Personally im 500gb+ at the moment, but it grows by at least 2 gb a week if not more.

I'm unable to answer this.. Theres no 200-300GB option :)

..and that's not counting what I've got burnt to DVDs, which I need to do another round of because my server is getting full (again).

You put my collection to shame - I'm in the 100-200GB category. Things probably won't improve too much either if they keep cancelling stuff I watch (most recently Las Vegas  )!

Whoops, fixed, PHPBB3 only lets 10 options max on the poll. Should be good now XD. I cant wait for next season, now that the writers strike is officially over we should have a good amount of shows each week :D

NBC have cancelled Las Vegas, so the one a couple of weeks ago was it. You'll only be able to get your fix by watching out for the Montecito popping up in other shows.. It was in The Knight Rider 2008 pilot last week (which also had a couple of other sequences reminiscent of LV's intro thingo) !

I saw it on the internet, it must be true: article.

had to expand my HDD's this last week which kept me busy.
I bought my self 12x1TB seagate drives, which emptied my bank account with about $3100...... lets just say no other computer spares for a few months.. :P

Yeah im about to go similar, but just dont have the money....damn rent and living expenses. For now im deleting stuff like porn to make way for new TV shows :p and using older 80gb-250gb drives that i find laying around as temp storage. Its all good though, TV Rename will sort them for me once i finally get a bigger centralised HDD ;)

Currently have 400+ gb on my hardrive but I've burnt maybe hundreds of DVDs before.
Before I modded the XBOX into becoming my home theater center I used to remove complete seasons to DVDs and just delete them from the HD now its fun to have them all available at your fingertip :)...not good for my hardrives budget though :-/

The poll was made as 1TB's were first coming out, nearly a year ago. And were still actually expensive.....

Im definitly much higher then my initial vote now, might be time to soon close this thread and open another one... <1TB, >1TB, >2TB, >3TB etc etc

Roughly 9,088 (1,887 GB) video files and 39,841 (187 GB) mp3s.

Plus one portable 500GB HDD that needs sorting.

YES!! off course i watched everything..oh wait..

22457 eps @ 35mins an ep avg ( some 20min . some 43) : 785995 minutes = 13099 hours.

16 hours a day ( if i sit on my ass watching tv-eps all day) = 818 days ( no leave or weekends :)

so that means i have to sit 2.2 years to watch all this.....hmm. no thx :D

Edit:
23644 episodes current count....another 1.1k eps in 4 months to watch and stuph.

Nah
My favourites atm are : Prisonbreak, heroes, Big bang theory - and then DOTA!! :P

The point is:

Just in case we ever want to watch them... we can. Not sure if thats a valid reason for you, but it is for me.

4.1TB total media library.

True. I have indeed some shows I've just collected to "have them". Like MacGyver <3

Regarding the size of the medialibrary, I shouldn't talk too loud;

I just broke over 1TB with some 2600 files.

I was just manually collecting and organizing this collection until a month or so ago. Now with TVRename I'm rounding out seasons and replacing old rips with new x.264 HD rips with so little effort it's almost frightening. :)

Definitely going to need to get some more storage.

I found most of the current running shows fit on a 2tb (if you leave out the civil enforcement and reality streams). Most of the older series fit on 4-2tb drives There are 6tb used for dramas series also so far I am using 1tb for documentaries. 1tb is documents and 4tb are misc. 1 tb is game and programing storage.

I am using for my storage computer one with 2 4-port sata cards to get 8 drives on an older machine that was ide. I run them all in non raid mode so they can be powered down. I have been setting the power down to about 6 hours so they are not going up and down a lot. This way if I don't use that drive for a week it can sit.

tv shows and series are taking up 16tb of the 25tb counting usb drives. Most of the shows If they are not around 640x 1200bps or less I will convert them to 640x360 xxfps 1280bps and cbr sound needed. These will play ok on a hdtv screen then across my lan. Some need other resolutions to look right. so far 30,000 episodes english show and may be close to 10,000 asian episodes.

I found that dual 100mb ethernet cards bound together work fast enough to do i1024 hdtv if you cannot get a 1gb ethernet card.

I was trying a file name like this so it could be listed to a .csf file and read in by a spreadsheet
but have small problem with asian name files and .csf import.
showname;showname year country languages() episodes,ss or hs
