When doing a missing file search lots show up that I don't care about how can I mark them to be ignored.

I see a way to mark the show (my shows tab, click edit on show then about half way is a check to make it ignored.)
but not a season or episode.

For now, the only way to ignore an entire season is to edit the show in My Shows, and add the season number to the list called "Ignore Seasons". Separate each season number with a space, and use season "0" for specials.

To ignore specific episodes, edit the season itself in My Shows, and create a new "Ignore" rule.

In the future, I'll add the ability to right-click on a missing/etc. file and ignore the episode/season from there.

ok

That is what I found.

the part to ignore a season seems OK. I did not try to use the missing episode part of that yet. the shows still show up on my show list if they exist in the dirs.

but when I edit a specific season and pick ignore (don't rename or check for episodes) then it no longer shows them on the "my shows" list either.

It is generally not a problem as they are not there but sometimes they are still.

mostly what this is nice is to keep track of what is off line maybe rename this to unconnected or off line shows list.

then have a report that can be generated to show what is off line

even one step more add just one tiny more field to allow for a storage location like dd001 dd002 or box1 box2 etc then a list could be made like

off line show
box1 incredible bulk
box2 hiderman s1
cd1 space s1
cd1 space s2
cd1 golf
cd2 fishing
cd2 flys

or

name cd1
name cd1
name box1
name box2

That's expected. The "ignore season" applies to what it looks for when doing renaming or missing checks, or filling in the "When to Watch" list. The "watch" link in the episode guide isn't paying any attention to the "Ignore season" option - perhaps it should.

but when I edit a specific season and pick ignore (don't rename or check for episodes) then it no longer shows them on the "my shows" list either.
That's because those rules are modifying the data collected from thetvdb, so if episodes are removed, ignored, swapped, etc., those modifications will show up in the My Shows episode guides. The main reason behind this functionality was to manipulate the data from thetvdb to suit what you have on disk, or think the order/etc. of shows should be.

When I add the ability to ignore episodes/seasons from within missing/rename, I'll keep them at a separate level, so they don't interfere with the episode guides, etc.

My main interest in writing TVRename was to keep track of what you have now, or are missing, rather than cataloguing what's elsewhere. I'm unlikely to add that sort of thing.

cataloging probably not a good idea anyway. What you have set up now seems to work for the most part to keep good track of what someone may be looking for.
