I\m having an issue with a series (The Angry Beavers), which as you may know, is made up of two small shows in each episode, which is how i have them, each of those smaller shows is it's own .avi file. Is there any way of having TVrename see this and treat both files as ONE episode and still keep the season numbers for each episode the same?

Mark the season and hit edit, you can do a lot in there merge split remove etc.. If this wont do it for you, then your out of luck

I have reported this as an issue. I don't think there is an easy way to do this currently: http://code.google.com/p/tvrename/issues/detail?id=108

My interim solution is to use the Split feature and then use the Remove feature.

For example if episode two is saved in two parts on disk (1x02a, 1x02b) but one part on thetvdb (1x02), I enter a split rule for episode two, split into two parts. because this results in renumbering all future episodes, I then add a Remove rule for episode 3. This is largely the same as doing nothing, but has a couple of benefits for me. First, tvrename generates a more sensible name for the first part of my episode, because it adds a suffix of (Part 1) to the file name. Second, I still gain the added functionality of most other Scan features. For part 1 I get: a properly named thumbnail file, nfo file, a scan that registers correctly for my missing episodes check, etc.

So at the moment with those rules in place, my file structure looks like this:
  1. My Show - 1x01 - Episode 1.avi[/*:m]
  2. My Show - 1x02 - Episode 2 (Part 1).avi[/*:m]
  3. My Show - 1x02b - Episode 2 (Part 2).avi[/*:m]
  4. My Show - 1x03 - Episode 3.avi[/*:m][/list:u]
All of my episodes have a thumbnail when viewed in my media server except part 2. Also, part 2 had to be named manually.

My proposal for the fix is that Split without renumbering would rely on a special naming standard, such as 1x02a...
