Triggering external app to convert to iPod/iPhone?

I've started using TV Rename to organize my TV files and it is great. I would like to set up a pipeline that does this automatically, and that ends by converting certain shows to a portable media format. As far as I can tell, this isn't something TV Rename provides by default. However, I was wondering whether it is possible to leverage TV Rename's configuration and processing functionality (e.g. recognize a new file, associate it to the right show, do the smart renaming and copying to the correct destination folder) and then trigger an external application to do the actual conversion. Is there a way to monitor or be notified of TV Rename's actions such that this monitor feed could be used to launch a subsequent step?

Not yet. Running an external command (or visiting a URL with optional parameters), either before/instead of/after a built-in tvrename action (e.g. copy/move/download/rename) is on my to-do list.

Until I get that done, you might be able to find a utility that can monitor folders, and run programs when stuff happens in them.
