v 2.11a5
this occurs on several shows when:
changing the directory
remove the show and try to add it again
--and
>it will not find the folders under the show
>or it may not find the files.

Battlestar is one it was added accidentally as the old series and was removed and added again as the correct year but i had to rename the folder to get it to find it. then i used that alternate name to get it to see the files but that did not work either. I tried to use the manually add folder after i moved all the folders out. no luck. I moved all the files to another dir named them same as the folder and did a finding and organizing search on it. no luck.

I looked and battlestar is listed as 2003 on tvdb and 2004 on imdb the original battlestar appears to be listed in German on tvdb.

I am having trouble with several shows that have varying names on movie databases. Also the file name they may be stored in could just use the first letters of the show. An option for --alternate names list-- for the "Finding and organizing" feature may help some.

Ok I found out more on what happened. v 2.11a5

It would not let me add a directory to a show or locate any missing items for it after a show with like name was added and removed or the directory was changed.

Also I noticed that the program had got set to "off line" mode.

I got it working again by setting program back to on line.
I removed all the sub folders from the directory and put all the shows into another dir and set the search for missing files to that directory.
i did a folder search for the show and it showed up on list. It wanted to add it as a flat but i checked the option folders.

now the show was back but if i tried to open a sub folder a message would pop up saying to browse to where the folder was. usually it would pop up and say create folder.

so I selected a sub folder on the my shows knowing the folder did not exist then pressed delete. This removed the show instead then.

Now I did a folder scan again and added the show with folders again and everything was working.

TVRename now prompts you if you try to put it into offline mode. I accidentally did it myself, and got very confused as to why nothing was working. I should also show a few more warnings, doing things like searching for shows, if offline mode is stopping it from working well.

At the moment, for "Folder Monitor" to determine there is a folder-per-season, each season folder has to be named exactly "Season 1", "Season 2", etc. If its not in English, or exactly like that, it'll go "flat". What are the names of your season folders? I should add a few more reasonable options, and make it user definable.

And to answer your original question: To do a total clean of the local database, go to "Tools" and "Flush Cache". That will remove all locally stored data from thetvdb, and cause a re-download of everything next time (which can take a while, if you have a lot of shows). You can also right-click on a show and go "Force Refresh", or hold down shift while clicking "Refresh" on the My Shows tab. This is useful sometimes when people make a new season for a show on thetvdb, which is later removed. At the moment, TVRename is unable to find out from thetvdb when this happens.

I ran into the problem of adding a season again and noticed that there was a difference in the name of the show. One letter was in lower case. After changing that then the seasons would show up.

Sorry.. Forgot to respond to this until you mentioned it in another thread.

Trying to piece together the steps to reproduce this problem...
  1. Have folders on disk for several seasons of a show, for example d:\BSG\Season 1, d:\BSG\Season 2, d:\BSG Season 3, d:\BSG\Season 4[/*:m]
  2. Add a new show to TVRename, accidentally put in the wrong BSG (the old one) with code 71173, with "Folder per season" turned on, and base folder of "d:\BSG"[/*:m]
  3. "OK" the add show dialog.[/*:m]
  4. Let TVRename download the info from the server[/*:m]
  5. Notice you got the wrong show, click on it and "Delete" from "My Shows" tab[/*:m]
  6. Add a new show, this time with the correct code (73545)[/*:m]
  7. Let TVRename download the info from the server[/*:m]
  8. Problem: Missing check will now report everything as missing[/*:m][/list:u]
Is that right? If not, can you please give me a similar step-by-step series of instructions to reproduce the problem in your first post.

For the single lower case letter problem, I'm not sure what you're changing the case of. Files on disk? Folder name on disk? Show name? Step-by-step instructions are good!

The "alternative names" idea is on my to-do list, too. It'll also be useful if TVRename has a year in the show name, but the files you get don't have it.

I have most of it working good now I have but it says i have ? files on my disk I guess I have to many for you counter field. It says I have 22000 episodes but I am not sure it is counting right on some things it seems to just be counting one drive where there is more than 1.
I make the directory's like this
/media
/tv show/
/movie/
/documentary/discovery/
/science/
/anime/
/music/
Each drive is laid out the same.
The file system is set to 256 length file names but I still have trouble with vista explorer being stupid when a folder name is very long.
===================================
Some of the things I did that might have caused the problem. I the Folder Monitor tab when I first started using the program It found lots of folders that said flat. I had the files not in the folders so I clicked folders on them all and saved it I think several of the problem ones started that way.
===============================
If I add a folder and have it spelled right but it is in lower case and scan it and add it then change the name to upcase it seems to still work.
make a folder like flying carpet scan it in with the folder monitor tab then rename it to Flying Carpet when you scan it will just go right in.

I found out that some of the names would not scan in if there was a duplicate name on another drive. which is good but it would be nice if it flaged it with a warning.
With my directory layout allowing a duplicate dir to work could be an advantage also. on the xbmc it helps it combine and make viewing multiple drives like 1. If you software handled this the same it could allow a show to reside on several drives and have part of a season on each but look like 1 show in the listing.

you seem to have the software your show lookup uses that tv database that seems odd at times it has names lots of the series wrong. I have seen it do things like 2,1, 4,3, 6,5 to the names.

I changed your newzleech filter like this it works lots better with you calendar and the missing file dropdown tab at bottom
http://www.newzleech.com/usenet/?group= ... max=max&q={ShowName}+s{Season:2}e{Episode2}&mode=usenet&adv=
I made this search for season lookups
http://www.tvnzb.com/?t={ShowName}&ss={Season:2}

I wish I could remember my old newzbin account then I could try that sabnzbd and some addon it has.

Next time I see it making wrong name choices I will note what happened better and sent it to you.
