Hi,

New to TVrename and LOVE it. I myself am a ubuntu user and use it through a VM (would love to see a nix port but thats another matter :)).

I was wondering if it will be possible in the future to right click on a series/season and launch a force rename. many of my series for some reason dont show up in the rename tab and im left with about half my series urenamed (i do get all the metadata correct from tvdb)

thx again for all your effort

are the shows that are not showing up in renaming showing as missing when you do a missing check?

I would guess that the folder is not matched with the show properly. Right click one of these shows in the "My Shows" tab and you will get a pop-up menu that should include the directory that is set - click on the directly if you think it is correct and see where it takes you.

Do you have multiple seasons in the one folder i.e. a flat folder structure? Have you set up the show with Folder per season, so it is looking for "season 1" etc. sub folders?

The app is built on .net framework and Microsoft Visual C++, which I don't think is going to work on a linux system any time soon :)

Yeah, try what ScoopD suggests and do a missing check, to get an idea of where it is looking for the shows. It'll either prompt you to create folders (so you'll see where it is looking), and/or show them in the "missing list" it create.

Also, you can edit the show from "My Shows" and see what is set for the folder to look in. Have a look at this post here for a couple of examples.

You can also go to the help menu, bug report, then turn on just the "Folder Scan" checkbox at the bottom. That'll also run through all your shows and indicate where it is looking for them.

Re: Unix port.. A mate of mine was trying to get it working under Wine, but didn't succeed. Its supposed to be possible though, if you can get all the .NET and C++ runtimes installed in the right place. Since it is written in .NET, there is the possibility that it'll eventually be supported by Mono, but there is still some stuff not implemented in Mono, that I'm using. C++ also throws a bit of extra spanner into the works with startup code (though I believe that can be worked around). Every now and then I do give it a go on Mono, though, and see how close it is.

Let us know how you get on with looking at the folders and stuff. If its still not working, go to the help->bug report, turn on "Settings files" and "Folder Scan", hit "Create" then email the output to tvrename [at] tvrename.com, tell me a couple of the shows that aren't working, and I'll have a look at it.

Hi guys and thx for the quick replies!

the folders that dont show in the rename tab do show on the missing tab (some with a browse dialog to manually find the folder and some just show up in the list..) but i cant see what to do with it when they show up in the missing tab? i know 100% the shows are there (i can browse and watch them :) ) this happens in a lot of shows (battlestar galactica, heroes etc...) but i cant find a coomon thread.

Right click one of these shows in the "My Shows" tab and you will get a pop-up menu that should include the directory that is set - click on the directly if you think it is correct and see where it takes you.

Couldn't reach that..right click gives me a few options but not which directory.

I wonder if in the future there would be a feature in tv rename (of course if its not hard to implement) that would allow tvrename to act as a normal file cleaner/renamer program where it would allow you to throw/add an individual folder for mass renaming..i think alot of users would find it useful..

thx again for all your effort on this truly awesome program

If you send me a bug report, I should be able to spot what's going wrong. Go to the help menu, bug report, turn on "Settings files" and "Folder Scan", hit "Create" then email the output to tvrename [at] tvrename.com

Nearly the same here. I'm an OS X user, and I run it through VMWare Fusion.

I think you don't have your folder set in the "my shows" section

i cant see what to do with it when they show up in the missing tab?
You don't have to do anything in the missing tab. It is just a list of the missing episodes.

Right click one of these shows in the "My Shows" tab and you will get a pop-up menu that should include the directory that is set - click on the directly if you think it is correct and see where it takes you.

Couldn't reach that..right click gives me a few options but not which directory.

Again - i think your folders are not set up.

That's pretty much the point of the find and organise tab.

Pick a show that is displaying these symptoms. Highlight the show in the My Shows tab and click Edit at the bottom of the page. What you are looking for is a valid directory in the "Base Folder" box. I think this must be blank or something for these shows?

If you guys want to do an experiment, have a look at this post. If that goes well, it mightn't be too much work to get it running natively on OSX/Linux (no promises at this point, though!).
