Episode Split (Alternate Style)

Right now, if you split an episode into two parts (it was a two hour episode, and it's split into one hour chunks) TVRename inserts the second part with a new episode number.

An alternate version which would work better with XBMC (and possibly others) would be great, where two part episodes retain the same episode numbering, but are suffixed with "(Part 1)", "(Part 2)", etc.

This causes XMBC (for instance) to treat the files as one episode, and doesn't cause episode numbering conflicts (because XMBC also uses TheTVDB for episode information, and an extra episode number will throw it off).

TVRename won't cope well with multi-part files for a single episode, e.g. "S01E01 (part 1).avi" and "S01E01 (part 2).avi". It'll make a mess of it, either leaving one behind, or trying to rename them both to the same name.

The best thing to do for now would to be set up an "Ignore" rule in that show's season for that episode. This will make TVRename avoid having anything to do with that episode, and then you'll have to manually rename the files yourself.

How common is it for episodes to be aired like this, in multiple parts?

It's not necessarily that they're aired like that - it's more often that they're just encoded like that. For instance, the one that I was dealing with today was the series premiere for Greatest American Hero. It was a two hour episode that had been split into two pieces by the person who encoded it.

Setting up an ignore rule is what I ended up doing already - I just wanted to propose it as a possible feature.

I just started using this program today, and I am loving it. I'd like to second this as a feature to add in the future. While it's definitely not too common, (I mainly see it in older cartoons) it would be really nice to have when it does occur.

Thanks!
