This software is brilliant and I would heavily donate if i could. What sadly almost threw me off from downloading was the looks. Something THAT cool deserves a better look. A cool look. a la Vuze for example...or whatever you want to do. Maybe even a change of name. TVrename doesn't really cut it. If you can do all those, I promise you popularity.

Also disagree, keep it simple. Especially the GUI.

Also strongly disagree.

I specifically don't use junk like Vuze because of all the worthless bloat it includes to entice people with the minds of 12 year olds who care more about how shiny something is than how it works. And the name sounds like something you get after eating rancid pork.
As for promising popularity, Vuze was once the most popular Bittorrent client (as Azureus) but now it is nowhere near as popular as uTorrent, which like TV Rename has a name that clearly represents what it's function is and has a simple, functional and unbloated interface. So your promise doesn't hold much weight.

Well yeah, very true.
but it doesn't have to be like Vuze with all the extra junk. I also stopped using Vuze but I have to admit, it looked very good.
The Interface could do with a better look though. It's not utorrent, it's something that is...well, for media. The current one looks like a software that is still in test phase.
It can still have a small size and use low memory but have a, at least, slightly better look.

TVRename does all sorts of wonders(with more to come). It doesnt only rename. hence me saying, it should get a better name. It's more or less a TV guide. Like a TV robot. It organises, gets photos, tells you when something is showing next/will be shown. links you to sites to download from.
goddamn it, it is amazing. honestly.

+1 on the amazing, and also +1 on Leave the GUI along.
Simple is the new Shiny.

This is such a useful and powerful tool, that making the interface more complicated will only scare off new users and take time away from developing the tweaks and bump-removals that would keep this program's icon on my desktop.

I disagree that a new Interface would make the program slower.

I've been working a little with Windows Forms and WPF, If I understand them correctly then WF are not being used in Windows Vista and Win7 anymore, only WPF. Even Visual Studio 2010 has been completely written in WPF.
Not sure which .NET framework will be needed to start the App, but that should not be that big of a deal, or????

Sincerely,

Zlatko

I think the GUI is well above average, and especially so compared to other renaming/organizing apps. The real magic of this app is that once you have it running on a schedule you don't really have to use the interface again, except to change your show settings. I'm in very much in favor of the current utilitarian GUI.

But I think the most practical reason not to do it is that GUI development time could be spent implementing more important features. The source is open, though, so if you have some WPF ideas give it a shot.

gui upgrade is nice and maybe should be implemented as an extra maybe skin support for people to make there own?
