When good releasers go bad

Not sure if this is a feature request or lack of knowledge on my part, so I put it here.

I'm currently following Sanctuary, a new series from Sci-Fi. My problem is that the first episode was double the length of normal ones, so it got labelled as E01-02 on EZTV, which it does not appear to actually be. I'm assuming that the following releases will be labelled following that, with the actual episode 02 being labelled as 03.. thus screwing up renaming etc on TVRename. I've inserted a 'placeholder' between ep 1& 2, and had it rename "E01-02" as "e01", but the following episodes will all be screwed up still. I'm fine with sticking with this method, but isn't there a better way to do this?

With this type of thing it is easiest to go to the source of the data. Go to TheTVDB for Sanctuary http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=80159&seasonid=27499&lid=7 and have a look.

They have put episode 1-2 as episode 1. If you add a rule for the series that episode 1 counts as 2 (Choose Split) then tvrenamer will call episode 2 from TheTVDB as episode 3. This week end when the next episode comes out (yes I'm watching it too) labled as s01e03 tvrename will deal with it as though it is episode 2, matching all the data for it.

It sounds confusing and is a little hard to explain, but play with the rules and you will quickly get the hang of it.

If you think that's confusing, try and deal with MythBusters - I have to manually change the series and episode in the file name each week before tvrenamer gets to it.

Yep. Split will split what tvdb calls one episode into two, essentially making their data match the releaser's opinion of what things are called.

Don't even get me started on their incorrect numbering of Mythbusters. See my post here about it.

I was thinking of doing some sort of crazy "adjustment" rule for when doing a find&organise. e.g. for mythbusters "subtract 1 from the season and add 10 to the episode". At least for a missing episode it'd go looking for the right (wrong) number, then renumber it to the wrong (right) numbering, as per thetvdb.

Hmmmm.. Alternatively.. I could make an entire season devouring rule action that'd chew up season 7 and spit it out as episodes 22+ of season 6.

Yeah .... hehehehehe .... MythBusters should do an episode on the seasons of MythBusters.

I was involved in some of the previous "Wars" about that, mainly because people kept changing the order around. Their current order follows the Wikipedia episodes page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythbusters_episodes - which is just some persons idea, with no real production basis, just a guess from when they have airing breaks.

I suggested that they do that myth, too!

If you have any ideas for myths you want busted, let me know and I'll pass them on. :)
