What if Show Name != File Name?

I suspect there's a simple solution but I can not find it and can't comprehend the various filters/processors in TVR.

I have all but one of my shows working fine and TVRename is a killer app but how do I get it to solve this problem for me?

Show Name: Archer
Filename when downloaded: Archer (2009)

So I might get "Archer 2009 S02E03 720p HDTV x264.mkv" in a directory named "Archer 2009 S02E03 720p HDTV x264" and unless I manually rename it TVRename doesn't find it.

How do I tell TVRename to ignore the "2009" or at least recognise the other 90% of the file name data?

If this has been covered feel free to simply point me in the correct direction, I didn't know what to search for actually.

TIA

I'm not sure if I've understood the problem. The original filename is "Archer 2009 S02E03 720p HDTV x264.mkv" and TvRename doesn't recognise it? Or is it a problem with the folder the file is it in?

I've tried renaming a file like yours and, if the problem is the first one, then it's because you don't have the correct filter activated. Go to Options -> Filename processors and, just to test, turn all of them off except the first one (the one with the notes "3x23 s3x23 3e23 s3e23 s04e01e02e03"). In my test, it correctly detects your file is from the Season 2 and Episode 3. This and TvDb should do the rest.

Hope that helps, although if this was not the problem, please explain it with more detail ;) .

Interesting thanks... that worked but I can't understand why.

I had multiple file name processors activated and all but this show worked. When I disabled all of the processors except the top one as you suggest, Archer 2009 is now picked up filed and renamed. The top processor was already enabled. That's the only change I made. Now if I enable the other processors the show is still picked up.

It seems simply toggling the file name processors fixed it with no other changes. Thanks so much, that's been irritating me for ages! :)

That should be in a FAQ somewhere.
