adding multiple seasons

I have a problem when adding multiple seasons and I don't understand why it keeps happening... When I add a season it works fine I rename etc.. then I add the next, thats when the problem starts for some reason it remove the old season i originally added from my shows.. I cannot add more than 1 season per show. When I try to add several seasons at once the software only adds the last season on the list. This is getting rather frustrating.. Am I doing something wrong?

Note I noticed when I tried folder per season it was adding the base folder as e:\video\tv series\how i met your mother\season 4 instead of e:\video\tv series\how i met your mother\ which is the real base folder. Is this a bug?

Yeah, it sounds like it could be a bug. From "Folder Monitor" It should be adding just the "base" folder, and setting the options so that it automatically finds each of the season folders. There is a limitation at the moment that the folders have to be named "Season <number>", and nothing other than that.

For an example of how it should be set up from "My Shows", have a look at the second picture in this post: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=114#p469 - once its set up like that, all 4 seasons should "just work". The section at the bottom is if you want to have other 'weird' locations for seasons as well.

If you remove HIMYM from "My Shows", go to Folder Monitor, hit "Check", then you should get a line saying:

Folder: s:\media2\How I Met Your Mother <-- note it's the folder that has all the seasons subfolders in it
Show: How I Met Your Mother
Season: Per Seas <-- means to automatically do a folder per season, i.e. "season 1", "season 2", etc.
thetvdb code: 75760

If you then click on that line, and hit "Add This" (bottom right), it'll then transfer it to "My Shows".

Go to the My Shows tab, click on HIMYM, hit "Edit" and it should look like it does in the screenshot linked to above (with the appropriate path for where your folders are, of course).

If it doesn't, let me know what it is putting for the "Base Folder", if "Folder per season" is on, and what an example of the full path for one of the seasons is (e.g. "s:\media2\how i met your mother\season 3").

yeah the full path was e:\video\tv series\how i met your mother\season 4 instead of e:\video\tv series\how i met your mother\ which was the correct path so i'm guessing this is a bug i'm having to change this for every season I add which is kind of annoying but livable for now :p thanks for all your help. I figured about adding per season already it was a little confusing at first though.

Ok.. I'll have a bit of a play here when I get a chance, and see if I can figure out why its going wrong. I did test it 20 minutes ago on my setup, and it was all right.

You can modify it's settings file in a text editor - which may be slightly quicker than editing all the shows. Quit TVRename, then look in \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\ (Windows XP), or \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\ (Vista), and open "TVRenameSettings.xml" in an editor (e.g. notepad, or whatever). You can then alter the "FolderBase" item for each show.

seems to have fixed itself somewhat... I dunno what happened everything's working fine now. I'm using Vista BTW

finally figured out what i'm doing wrong i'm adding the season folder e.g. im adding HIMYM folder at e:\video\how I met your mother\ instead of e:\video if i add e:\video and add HIMYM through there using your guide it will add fine. At the time I only wanted to add 2 or 3 at a time though. Maybe a future feature you could make a work around for this so I cna add just 1 at a time by the seasons folder rather than the root dir?

Ah, ok. That might be the bug - as its probably not considering the starting folder, just the subfolders from there. It should be easy to fix.

In most "lists", including the list of found shows in Folder Monitor, you can select items and hit "Del" on your keyboard to remove them. Also, on folder monitor you can use the "Add This" button to add just the episode(s) you have selected. This would let you add just a few at a time.
