The tvrename settings folder is:

  1. c:\documents and settings\<username>\application data\tvrename\tvrename\2.1\ (XP) [/*:m]
  2. c:\users\<username>\appdata\tvrename\tvrename\2.1 (Vista).[/*:m][/list:u]
    The files in that folder:

    1. TVRenameSettings.xml - Pretty much everything. All your shows, folders, and settings.[/*:m]
    2. TheTVDB.xml - Local cache of thetvdb data downloaded.[/*:m]
    3. Layout.xml - TVRename's window position, column sizes, and statistics are saved here. [/*:m]
    4. Statistics.xml - Counts how many files have been moved, renamed, how many checks have been done, etc.[/*:m][/list:u]
Numbered backups of the first two files are created, so if things go wrong you can go back to earlier versions.

If you want to back up your settings, just grab those four files. TheTVDB.xml can be skipped, if you don't mind re-downloading all the data in it again. Its downloaded ZIPped, so its not as bad as it may appear.

Any way to change the default location for these files? Reason I ask is that my main home automation PC died and I replaced it with a low-power consuming device that uses WinXPe (embedded). The device protects all changes from the C drive, and so all the software and settings are installed over on D. I could kludge a move with much effort so that all user directories move to D, but I would rather avoid registry changes. If it's not possible today would it be something that could be considered in the future?

I was going to suggest setting the registry entry that specifies where "Documents and Settings" is based, or use a tool like TweakUI.

Already on my to-do list is the ability specify where the settings files are stored, also useful for people who want to keep everything on a single portable media drive.
