Define folder structure in Folder Monitor

Is there a way to change the Folder the structure in the new Folder Monitor? Was able to do it with the old window but doesn't seem to be possible with the new.
Not really a big deal since we can always do it in My Shows after we add it. But with an already big collection of shows, when adding a half dozen more, it's a bit tedious to have to go through the who My Shows list to define the folder structure. Doing it on the Folder Monitor window with just the shows being added was a lot easier.

I can add it back in. I only removed it in an attempt to simplify the folder monitor.

Are you getting a many shows that are being picked up with the wrong structure? If so, can you give me an example how it is going wrong? e.g.:
- Often says flat instead of folder-per-season
- Often says folder-per-season instead of flat
- A mixture of both the above

and.. for one or two that it gets wrong, what are the names of the subfolders in the show's folder that it is missing?

At the moment it is a bit limited, and will decide it is folder-per-season if any of the subfolders have "Season" or "Saison" in their names (i.e.: English, French, German). I'm intending to make that a user-definable list of words, though.

It picks them up with the right structure if they already exist. That's working perfectly as far as I know.
The part where it helps to have it on the folder monitor is when adding new shows to my collection.

All my shows use a Folder Per season method with a "<Show name> Season " format. With previous versions to add new shows I'd have the folder where I put new files added to my Search Folders. Then I'd just create a folder for each one with the name of the show, add them via the folder monitor, set it to Folder per season and enter the folder format, and then let TV Rename create all the necessary subfolders and move the files into them by doing a scan.
Without being able to define the Folder Per Season structure on the folder monitor, it detects those new folders at flat and since I can't change them there, I have to go over to My Shows to define the folder structure for each show individually before running the scan to get TV Rename to create the season folders.

It was a little more convenient IMO with the old layout. Maybe have it on the Edit Show dialog?

But it's completely up to you if you prefer the simplified Folder Monitor. It works either way and isn't that much of a difference. :D

Hi Guys,

I just found tvrename and am eager to give it a try but.... I have a LARGE collection and my folder naming convention is M:\TV Shows\Show Name\Show Name - Season 01

Is there anyway to support this naming convention? I use this as I sometimes grab a season to take with me on the road and having the show name along with season is convenient.

In reading around it looks like I could have tvrename move all my files from the old structure to a new folder structure using the "show name\season 01" naming convention, but I don't think I want to do this.

Program looks GREAT, the main interest I had is in the missing shows feature as I have such a large collection it is hard to figure out what might be missing without a lot of work.

Cheers,

Yep. I use almost the exact same convention.
In the current version, add the shows using the folder monitor. It should pick up the naming convention of existing shows automatically. For new shows, or if it doesn't properly pick up the naming convention of existing shows (it'll either want you to create folders when you run a scan or it'll want to move the files the first time you do a scan after adding a new shows if it didn't pick them up properly), once the show has been added using the folder monitor click the show on the My Shows tab, then click Edit.
For your naming convention you would want the boxes next to Automatic Folders, Folder Per Season, and Pad number to two digits checked. In the Base Folder field you wold enter "M:\TV Shows\Show Name" (without the quotes) and in the "Folder per season, base name" field you would enter (again without quotes) "Show Name - Season " (don't forget the space after Season).

For a lot of shows though that can be kinda tedious so if you're comfortable with digging through an XML file, you can use a text editor and edit the setting file at C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1 where a little clever use of search and replace will speed things up a bit. If you go that route, I recommend something like http://www.crimsoneditor.com as things like Notepad tend to corrupt XML files.

Thanks DedTV, I will give it a try this weekend and let you know how it goes!

Where are these settings?
